Walking in the middle of the night
In the middle of nowhere
I follow an unlit path that winds and winds
And takes me to some invisible meadow
But it is not a meadow that I want
What I want is to climb the highest mountain
And to stay there forever
Am I sleeping and dreaming
Or sleepless and walking?
Where is the line that divides dream and reality?
There never was any line, I tell myself,
And I pluck a few stars from the brooding night sky above me
They glisten like shiny pebbles in my hand.
I laugh silently,
And I grab a dozen more stars -
And then with a flourish,
I take hold of a corner of the blanket of the night sky
And pull it tumbling to the ground.
Behind it I see a bright blue sky,
Lit with the everlasting light of the Sun
Lit with the everlasting light of the Sun
I was walking in the middle of the night
In the middle of nowhere
I am not lost anymore
I have brought myself the dawn,
And now will I search for high mountains
